Junts, the Catalan political party led by Carles Puigdemont, has announced plans to request the suspension of the investiture session for Salvador Illa if Puigdemont is detained upon his return to Spain.

Secretary General Jordi Turull emphasized that the decision for Puigdemont to return is not personal but rather institutional, asserting that the investiture cannot proceed under normal conditions if their leader is arrested.

Turull warned that if the Spanish government, led by Pedro Sánchez, ignores Puigdemont's potential detention, Junts will reconsider its agreement with the PSOE.

He criticized the current political climate, suggesting that the judiciary is acting against Puigdemont and that the situation represents a serious democratic anomaly.
