Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, chief of staff to Madrid's regional president Isabel Díaz Ayuso, is under scrutiny for allegedly leaking personal data of two journalists from El País.
The reporters were investigating a tax fraud case involving Ayuso's partner, Alberto González Amador.
Rodríguez reportedly shared their names and photos, accusing them of harassment, which media organizations have condemned as an attack on press freedom.
The PSOE has filed a legal complaint against Rodríguez, calling for an investigation into his actions.
This comes as Rodríguez testifies in a separate Supreme Court case involving alleged leaks by Spain's Attorney General.
The controversy highlights tensions between the press and political figures in Madrid.
