Every year, the Basilica of Begoña becomes a focal point for thousands of pilgrims during the Feast of the Assumption.

This year, the faithful gathered with prayers for health and work, reflecting the deep cultural and spiritual significance of the Amatxu de Begoña for the people of Bizkaia.

The event was marked by the traditional aurresku dance performed by Bilbao's Mayor, Juan Mari Aburto, who overcame personal health challenges to honor the city's traditions.

The celebrations also included a nautical procession from Santurtzi to Bilbao, adding a modern twist to the age-old festivities.

Despite personal hardships, many attendees, like José Antonio Cartagena, found solace and hope in the communal spirit of the event.

The day highlighted Bilbao's unique blend of modernity and tradition, as the city prepares for its upcoming Aste Nagusia festival.
