A high-ranking Spanish police officer, Óscar Sánchez, has been arrested for his alleged involvement in a major drug trafficking network.

Investigators accuse Sánchez of providing confidential information to the cartel, led by Ignacio Torán, in exchange for millions of euros.

Authorities discovered nearly €19 million hidden in his home and another €1 million in his office.

Sánchez reportedly used a web of international companies to launder the illicit funds, with connections spanning Panama, Sweden, and Poland.

Evidence includes encrypted messages where Sánchez encouraged the cartel to increase drug shipments during the pandemic, exploiting reduced inspections.
