Menorca has been severely affected by intense rainfall due to a DANA weather system, with Es Mercadal recording a staggering 204.2 mm of rain.

The deluge led to swollen streams and vehicles being swept away, prompting the local police to seal off dangerous areas.

In Alaior, 31 residents of a senior home were evacuated due to structural instability caused by the rain.

The Guardia Civil conducted multiple rescues, including airlifting 16 people, some minors, from rooftops in Es Mercadal.

The storm also caused significant flooding in fields and roads, leaving many areas impassable.

Authorities are now assessing the damage as the island recovers from this extreme weather event.
