Spain's Dependency Law Overhaul

Spain's Minister of Social Rights, Pablo Bustinduy, is set to present a major reform of the Dependency and Disability Laws.

The proposed changes aim to reverse austerity measures introduced by the previous government, which cut over €5 billion from dependency services.

Key reforms include eliminating restrictions on combining care services, reducing waiting times for benefits, and expanding support for caregivers, including non-family members.

The plan also seeks to make teleassistance a universal right and improve access to adaptive technologies.

With Spain's aging population, the reform aims to strengthen dependency care as a pillar of the welfare state, ensuring equitable access and modernized support systems.
