In a significant reshuffle within Spain's government, Antonio Hernando has been appointed as the new Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructures.
This move comes as part of a broader reorganization following the appointment of Óscar López as the Minister of Digital Transformation and Public Function.
Hernando, a long-time collaborator of López, will replace María González Veracruz, who will now serve as the Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence.
These changes are expected to be ratified by the Council of Ministers.
The reshuffle follows José Luis Escrivá's transition to the role of Governor of the Bank of Spain, prompting a series of strategic appointments within the government.
Hernando's extensive experience within the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) and his previous roles in government make him a key figure in this new phase of digital transformation in Spain.
