Spanish Business Tycoon Juan Miguel Villar Mir Dies at 92

Juan Miguel Villar Mir, the renowned Spanish entrepreneur and founder of the industrial and real estate group Villar Mir, has passed away at 92. A civil engineer by training, Villar Mir served briefly as Spain's Finance Minister in the first government after Franco's dictatorship.

He founded OHL, a major construction company, in 1987 after buying Obrascón for just one peseta.

Under his leadership, OHL became a global player in construction and infrastructure.

Villar Mir's business empire expanded to include energy, metallurgy, and fertilizers.

In 2011, King Juan Carlos granted him the title of Marquis in recognition of his contributions to business and Spain's political transition.
