In a coordinated move, several Spanish regional governments, led by the Popular Party (PP), have filed constitutional challenges against the recently passed amnesty law.
This law, which aims to pardon those involved in the Catalan independence movement, has been met with strong opposition from regions like Madrid, Aragón, Murcia, and others.
The PP argues that the law undermines the rule of law and equality among citizens.
Notably, the Socialist-led Castilla-La Mancha has also joined the legal challenge, highlighting bipartisan concerns.
The deadline for filing these challenges is imminent, with more regions expected to follow suit.
This legal battle underscores the deep political divisions in Spain over the handling of the Catalan issue.
