A 26-year-old Spanish woman has been arrested for allegedly extorting 311 men across the country by creating a fictitious online persona.
Using a mobile phone, photo editing apps, and artificial intelligence, she crafted an alluring image of herself on Instagram, amassing over 13,000 followers.
She gained the trust of her victims, convincing them to send intimate images, which she then used to blackmail them, threatening to share the content with their families and friends unless they paid her.
In some cases, she posed as a prostitute, demanding payment upfront but never showing up.
Over eight months, she collected €16,300 through these schemes.
The police investigation, initiated in Málaga, led to her arrest in Gipuzkoa, where she lived with her young child in poor conditions.
The case highlights the growing accessibility of cybercrime tools, allowing individuals to conduct sophisticated scams with minimal resources.
