A powerful storm, named Aitor, is causing significant weather disruptions across Spain, particularly in the northwest region of Galicia.
The Spanish Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued an orange alert for Galicia, predicting rainfall exceeding 120 liters per square meter within 12 hours, accompanied by strong winds and high waves.
As the day progresses, the alert level will be downgraded to yellow, affecting 11 other regions, including Asturias, Aragón, and Castilla y León, due to adverse weather conditions.
The storm is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds, with gusts reaching up to 90 kilometers per hour in some areas.
Meanwhile, the Basque Country is experiencing a rise in temperatures and intense southwest winds, with highs reaching 27-28 degrees Celsius.
The storm is anticipated to weaken by Friday, but a cold air mass will follow, leading to a significant drop in temperatures across the northern peninsula.
