Supreme Court Orders Preservation of Key Footage

The Spanish Supreme Court has ordered the preservation of security footage from the General Prosecutor's Office amid allegations against the State Attorney General, Álvaro García Ortiz.

The footage, recorded on October 30, is crucial to an investigation into whether García Ortiz and his deputy, Ángeles Sánchez Conde, manipulated a mobile phone during a search by the Civil Guard.

This decision follows claims by the Independent Professional Association of Prosecutors (APIF) that the two were seen reviewing a phone, potentially linked to a case involving leaked confidential information.

The Supreme Court is probing whether García Ortiz played a significant role in the unauthorized disclosure of sensitive emails related to a tax fraud investigation involving the partner of Madrid's regional president.

The APIF has described the incident as unprecedented, highlighting the unusual nature of a prosecutor meeting with an accused without legal representation present.
