The Canary Islands continue to witness a humanitarian crisis as hundreds of migrants risk their lives to reach European shores.
Over 580 migrants arrived in the archipelago within 24 hours, including children and infants, after perilous journeys from Africa.
Tragically, the year has seen record fatalities, with NGOs estimating over 10,000 deaths, many of them children, on these routes.
The UN reports at least 1,400 deaths, though the true toll is likely higher due to unreported "ghost shipwrecks.
" Recent days saw multiple rescues, including a capsized boat near Lanzarote, leaving at least four dead and five missing.
The Atlantic route remains one of the deadliest migration paths, highlighting the urgent need for international action.
