In a strategic move to spearhead the reconstruction efforts following the devastating DANA storm, the Valencian government has appointed retired Lieutenant General Francisco José Gan Pampols as the Vice President for Economic and Social Recovery.
This new role is pivotal in coordinating the recovery of the 78 municipalities affected by the catastrophic floods on October 29, which resulted in significant loss of life and property.
Pampols, with a distinguished military career and expertise in leadership and intelligence, is tasked with designing a comprehensive recovery plan and leading the interdepartmental commission overseeing the reconstruction process.
His appointment is part of a broader government reshuffle aimed at addressing the crisis, which includes the recent appointment of Marian Cano as the new Industry Minister.
The government has allocated an initial budget of 200 million euros for the reconstruction, with further financial support sought from the national government.
Pampols' leadership is expected to bring a disciplined and strategic approach to the recovery efforts, ensuring resilience against future natural disasters.
