Venezuelan Leader Claims Coerced Exile

Published: 2024-09-19

Edmundo González Urrutia, the Venezuelan opposition leader, has revealed that he signed a document under duress to leave Venezuela for Spain.

This document, signed at the Spanish embassy in Caracas, allegedly acknowledged Nicolás Maduro's electoral victory, a claim González disputes.

He asserts that the signing was coerced by the Venezuelan regime, represented by Jorge and Delcy Rodríguez, who pressured him to comply or face severe consequences.

Despite this, González maintains his commitment to the Venezuelan people, emphasizing his electoral victory and the need for democratic change.

He has called for the release of electoral records to prove his win, which he claims was achieved with 67% of the vote.

The situation has sparked international attention, with the European Parliament set to discuss the matter, highlighting the ongoing political tensions in Venezuela.
