Vox, the Spanish political party, has admitted to financing its 2023 electoral campaigns with a €9.2 million loan from Hungary's Magyar Bankholding (MBH).
The party claims it turned to foreign funds due to a lack of support from Spanish banks.
Despite acknowledging the loan, Vox denies knowing any connection between MBH and Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
The bank's major shareholder, Lörinc Mészáros, is known for his close ties to Orbán.
Vox's decision to join Orbán's European political group has raised eyebrows, especially after leaving the European Conservatives and Reformists group.
The party insists all financial dealings are transparent and reported to Spain's Tribunal de Cuentas, dismissing allegations of illegal financing.
