Andalusia Braces for Torrential Rains

Published: 2024-11-13

Andalusia is on high alert as a new DANA (Isolated Depression at High Levels) is set to bring torrential rains to the region.

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued orange and yellow warnings for heavy rainfall across the province, with expectations of up to 100 liters per square meter in 12 hours.

The Junta de Andalucía has activated the pre-emergency phase of its Flood Risk Emergency Plan, urging residents in vulnerable areas to relocate to safer urban centers.

Municipalities like Álora and Cártama are advising residents to stock up on essentials and avoid parking in dry riverbeds.

Emergency services are on standby, and public events have been suspended as the region prepares for potential flooding.

The rains are expected to persist until at least Friday, affecting areas from Málaga to the Balearic Islands.
