Autumn Storms Sweep Across Spain

Published: 2024-08-30

Spain is bracing for a wet and stormy start to the meteorological autumn, with a series of weather disturbances expected to bring heavy rain and thunderstorms across the country.

The Spanish Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued warnings for 19 provinces, anticipating the formation of a DANA (Isolated High-Level Depression) that could lead to significant rainfall and storms, particularly in the northern and northeastern regions.

The weekend will see persistent showers, with the potential for hail and strong winds, especially in areas like Aragón, Navarra, and parts of Castilla y León.

Temperatures are set to drop, marking a stark contrast to the recent summer heat, with only the southern valleys expected to reach highs of 35°C.

Residents are advised to stay informed and exercise caution, particularly on the roads, as visibility and driving conditions may be affected by the severe weather.
