David Sánchez, brother of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, is under investigation for alleged irregularities in his employment by the Diputación de Badajoz.
The investigation, led by Judge Beatriz Biedma, follows a report from the Guardia Civil indicating that the position held by Sánchez was created hastily and without clear necessity.
Alongside Sánchez, Miguel Ángel Gallardo, the president of the Diputación and leader of the PSOE in Extremadura, and several others have been summoned to court.
The inquiry also examines Sánchez's financial dealings, particularly concerning his holdings in BBVA, which were initially misreported.
The Guardia Civil's findings suggest a miscalculation in the valuation of his assets, leading to further scrutiny.
The case highlights potential misconduct in public administration and financial misrepresentation, with court proceedings set to continue in January.
