The diplomatic crisis between Spain and Venezuela has intensified following the arrest of two Spanish citizens, Andrés Martínez and José María Basoa, in Venezuela.
The Venezuelan government, led by Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello, claims the two are linked to a conspiracy involving the Spanish intelligence agency, CNI, and were planning terrorist acts.
However, the families of the detained men assert they were merely on vacation and have no ties to intelligence services.
The Spanish government has requested consular access to verify their identities and nationalities.
This incident has further strained relations between the two countries, amidst ongoing diplomatic tensions and commercial interests.
