The National Court has sentenced Alfredo Prada, former Vice President and Justice Minister of the Community of Madrid, to seven years in prison for continuous prevarication and aggravated embezzlement.
This verdict stems from irregularities in contracts related to the Campus of Justice project, which squandered over 100 million euros.
Four other officials received three-and-a-half-year sentences for their roles.
The court found that the contracts, totaling 40 million euros, were mismanaged, lacking economic foresight and administrative oversight.
The project, intended to centralize judicial facilities, failed, with only partial construction completed.
The court highlighted the misuse of funds, including a costly contract with Foster & Partners, as a significant factor in the project's collapse.
