Forest Fire Threatens Corbalán

Published: 2024-08-11

A forest fire broke out in Corbalán, Teruel, on Sunday, prompting the Government of Aragón to request assistance from the Ministry for the Ecological Transition.

The fire, which started in a pine-rich area, has led to the deployment of significant resources, including ground brigades, helicopters, and amphibious planes.

Despite the initial threat, Ana Oliván, Director General of Forest Management, assured that the town of Corbalán is unlikely to be affected due to the extensive firefighting efforts.

The fire has already burned 240 hectares but is reportedly under control on its right flank.

Efforts continue overnight with ground crews and bulldozers working to secure the perimeter.

The A-226 road remains closed to facilitate the movement of firefighting vehicles.
