The city of Madrid has announced the revocation of licenses for three e-scooter rental companies, Lime, Dott, and Tier Mobility, due to non-compliance with safety regulations.
This decision affects 6,000 scooters, which will be removed from the streets by October.
The companies failed to implement required technology to prevent scooters from being parked or driven in prohibited areas, compromising pedestrian safety.
Despite the companies' claims of surprise and disagreement, the city prioritizes pedestrian safety, especially for the elderly.
As a result, Madrid plans to expand its BiciMad bicycle service to meet sustainable mobility needs.
