Sexual Assaults Mar San Fermín Festival in Pamplona

Published: 2024-07-08

The San Fermín festival in Pamplona, Spain, has been overshadowed by reports of sexual assaults.

A 31-year-old man was arrested for a 'high-intensity' sexual assault on a 27-year-old woman in the Old Town area during the first night of celebrations.

Additionally, four men were detained for two separate incidents of sexual touching.

In response, the Pamplona City Council approved an institutional declaration condemning the attacks and activated a protocol against sexist aggressions.

The feminist movement has called for a protest in the Plaza del Castillo.

These incidents have occurred just eight years after the infamous 'La Manada' gang rape case, highlighting ongoing concerns about women's safety during the festival.
