Spain is set to implement a new immigration regulation aimed at simplifying the regularization process for immigrants, with the goal of attracting and retaining foreign workers.

The regulation, approved by the Council of State, will come into effect six months after its publication.

This marks the third reform in three years, reflecting Spain's evolving labor and demographic needs.

Key changes include reducing the residency requirement for work permits from three to two years and introducing a 'second chance' residency for those who previously held permits.

The regulation also facilitates work opportunities for asylum seekers and those in irregular situations, addressing the needs of a growing immigrant workforce.

The reform aligns with EU directives and aims to provide legal security for both businesses and migrants, enhancing their integration into the Spanish labor market.
