For the first time, Spain's judiciary is investigating alleged torture during the Franco dictatorship.
The case centers on Blanca Serra, who claims she and her late sister were tortured by the Brigada Político-Social in 1977 at Barcelona's Via Laietana police station.
Serra's complaint, supported by human rights groups, highlights systematic repression during the dictatorship.
The investigation is based on Spain's Democratic Memory Law, which mandates uncovering the truth about past human rights abuses.
While previous cases were dismissed, this marks a significant step toward justice for victims of Franco-era crimes.
