After years of negotiations, Spain and Morocco have reopened the commercial customs post in Melilla, closed since 2018. A truck carrying 600 kilograms of appliances successfully crossed the Beni Enzar border, marking the start of regular trade.
This follows a failed attempt last week when technical issues halted operations.
Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares hailed the reopening as a step towards normalized trade relations, emphasizing the commitment of both nations.
The agreement allows one truck per day in each direction, with specific goods permitted for trade.
Efforts are underway to open a similar customs post in Ceuta, which would further strengthen bilateral ties.
