Spain Revives Electric Car Subsidies

Published: 2025-04-02

Spain has reinstated its Plan Moves III to support electric vehicle (EV) purchases, addressing a four-month gap in subsidies that caused a 53% drop in EV orders earlier this year.

The program, now extended until December 31, 2025, offers up to €7,000 for buyers scrapping old cars and €9,000 for replacing old vans.

It also includes retroactive benefits for purchases made since January 22. With a €400 million budget, the plan aims to simplify application processes and boost EV adoption, which currently lags behind neighboring countries.

The government hopes this move will stabilize the auto industry and accelerate the transition to greener transportation.
