A tragic accident in Tanzania has claimed the lives of a mother and daughter from Getxo, Spain.

The family was involved in a car crash while visiting the Ngorongoro Crater, a popular wildlife area.

The vehicle, carrying four family members, lost control and fell 600 meters down the crater's steep slope.

The mother, Elena Rentería, 45, and her 17-year-old daughter, Inés de Lomas, died at the scene.

The father, Íñigo, a doctor, suffered severe leg and arm fractures, while their 15-year-old son, Ignacio, sustained chest injuries with possible lung damage.

Local guides assisted in rescuing the injured, and the Spanish Embassy is providing support to the family.

The community in Getxo is mourning the loss of the beloved family members, who were well-known and cherished in their hometown.
