The recent intense rainfall in Valencia has sparked controversy over the region's emergency response.
Emails from the Confederación Hidrográfica del Júcar (CHJ) indicated severe weather conditions in Chiva, yet the alert to the public was delayed until 8 PM.
Criticism has been directed at Carlos Mazón, President of the Generalitat Valenciana, for his late arrival at the emergency coordination meeting.
The CHJ and the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) had continuously informed the authorities, but the alert system ES-Alert was reportedly not utilized until late.
This delay has raised questions about the effectiveness of the communication protocols in place, as the region faced devastating floods.
