A significant wildfire erupted in Tres Cantos, Madrid, on Thursday afternoon, leading to the evacuation of the El Rondelo urbanization in Colmenar Viejo.
The blaze, which has scorched 535 hectares, prompted the activation of the Civil Protection Plan's operational level 2, necessitating assistance from the Military Emergency Unit (UME).
Emergency services attended to seven individuals, including four residents and three civil guards, for mild smoke inhalation, with two residents hospitalized.
The fire, fueled by strong winds and challenging terrain, threatened several homes before being stabilized by evening, allowing the UME to be deactivated.
Firefighters, supported by aerial and ground units, continue to work on securing the area and preventing further outbreaks.
