The Spanish Directorate General of Traffic (DGT) has launched the second phase of its special holiday traffic operation, running until January 1. With over 6.4 million road trips expected nationwide, the initiative aims to ensure safety during peak travel times.
Key measures include reversible lanes, traffic monitoring via drones and helicopters, and restrictions on heavy vehicles.
The DGT urges drivers to avoid alcohol, plan trips carefully, and stay informed about road conditions.
Since December 20, 28 fatalities have been reported, highlighting the need for caution.
Travelers are advised to follow the campaign's message: "Drive as if carrying the main dish of Christmas dinner.
