Heatwave Grips Spain as Temperatures Soar Above 35°C

Published: 2024-07-10

Spain is experiencing a significant heatwave, with temperatures expected to exceed 35°C (95°F) in many regions.

The southern and eastern parts of the country are particularly affected, with some areas potentially reaching 40°C (104°F).

While most of Spain enjoys stable, sunny weather, the northwest can expect some rainfall.

The Spanish Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued yellow alerts for several provinces due to the extreme heat.

Nighttime temperatures in some areas may not drop below 20°C (68°F), resulting in 'tropical nights'.

Despite the scorching temperatures, a slight relief is anticipated towards the weekend as Atlantic fronts bring cooler air and possible showers to parts of the country.
