Renfe and Adif Workers Announce Strikes

Published: 2025-03-04

Renfe and Adif workers have announced seven days of strikes in March and April, protesting the transfer of Rodalies commuter rail services to Catalonia's Generalitat.

The unions accuse the Spanish government of breaking agreements made in late 2023, excluding them from negotiations, and failing to ensure job stability.

The strikes are scheduled for March 17, 19, 24, 26, 28, and April 1 and 3. The conflict stems from plans to create a joint company to manage Rodalies, which unions claim undermines existing public services and increases costs for citizens.

Recent disruptions, including train delays and cancellations, have already impacted events like Sitges Carnival, highlighting the growing tension.

The unions demand the Ministry of Transport honor prior commitments and ensure a smooth transition without compromising workers' rights.
