Renfe has resolved a major software issue that disrupted its high-speed Avril trains on January 1, affecting 28 services and over 14,000 passengers.
The problem, linked to a communication failure in battery chargers, caused significant delays and cancellations.
Renfe implemented alternative transport plans and reallocated passengers to minimize disruption.
The incident cost the company an estimated €1 million and added to ongoing tensions with train manufacturer Talgo, which has faced criticism for delays and technical issues with the Avril fleet.
While services have resumed, Renfe is considering further penalties against Talgo as part of their strained relationship.
