Train Services Suspended in August

Published: 2024-08-02

Train services connecting Santander with Madrid, Palencia, and Valladolid will be suspended for the entire month of August due to significant infrastructure works.

These projects involve the construction of high-speed rail connections and the duplication of conventional tracks.

Passengers will be required to use a bus service as an alternative, with over 2,500 bus trips planned to accommodate affected travelers.

The last train from Madrid will operate on July 31, and the first bus service will begin on August 1. Local officials have expressed concerns about the impact on tourism and commerce, emphasizing the need for better communication regarding the disruptions.

Adif, the railway infrastructure manager, has stated that these works are essential for improving transport links and minimizing disruption to freight traffic at the Port of Santander.
