Spain is bracing for a weekend of volatile weather as the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) issues yellow alerts across ten communities.
The alerts, indicating potential risks for outdoor activities, are due to a mix of high temperatures, heavy rain, and thunderstorms.
Regions such as Aragón, Catalonia, and the Valencian Community are on alert for both heat and storms, while areas like Andalusia and Castilla-La Mancha face warnings for intense rainfall.
The Canary Islands are also under alert for high temperatures.
A small atmospheric ridge is expected to form, affecting the western half of the peninsula, while cooler air will impact the eastern regions.
This weather pattern will lead to mostly clear skies across the country, with cloudier conditions and light rain expected in Galicia and the western Cantabrian coast.
As the weekend progresses, a polar trough and associated cold front will sweep across northern Spain, bringing more rain and thunderstorms, particularly in mountainous areas.
Temperatures are set to drop significantly in the north, while the south will continue to experience heat, with some areas exceeding 35°C.
