Spain Faces Severe Heatwave Alert

Published: 2024-07-24

Spain is currently facing a severe heatwave, with temperatures soaring between 39 and 44 degrees Celsius across various regions.

The Spanish Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued an orange alert for nine communities, including all of Andalusia, parts of Castilla-La Mancha, and Madrid, warning of extreme heat that poses significant health risks.

The heatwave is expected to peak on Wednesday, with particularly high temperatures in the Guadalquivir Valley and the Ebro Valley.

Residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activities during peak hours, and seek cool places to mitigate the effects of the heat.

AEMET predicts that while temperatures may begin to drop on Thursday, many areas will still experience elevated heat levels, making it crucial for the public to remain vigilant.
