Spain is bracing for a week of unsettled weather as a new Atlantic front is set to bring widespread rain and a significant drop in temperatures.

The week begins with relatively mild conditions, but by Friday, the front will sweep across the country, bringing heavy rain particularly to the Mediterranean region and the Balearic Islands.

The Spanish Meteorological Agency (AEMET) forecasts that temperatures will fall notably, especially in the north and northwest, with some areas experiencing a drop to single digits.

The weekend will see continued instability, with the potential for strong showers in the east and southeast.

Residents are advised to prepare for cooler, wetter conditions as the week progresses.
